[CONFLICT] Kararlı Mücadele Harekatı (Operation Determined Struggle)
Turkey has warned its Western allies for years against using terrorists to fight other terrorists in Syria, asserting that a long term fight against ISIS cannot be won by empowering ultra-nationalist ethnic Kurds to conquer large swaths of the country.
Kurds in Syria are less than 10% of the population yet control the entire country east of the Euphrates River.
Turkey will no longer tolerate the existence of a PKK statelet across its border, which threatens the territorial integrity of Turkey, Syria, and Iraq. Turkey continues to have reservations about the Syrian government in Damascus; however, it is time the war is ended and it must recognize that its true priorities lie with not allowing terrorist organizations to occupy Syrian territory.
While Turkey has succeeded in dislodging the PKK from these areas, the eastern side of the Euphrates have been left to the PKK, creating a de facto partition of Syria on either bank of the river.
The initial target of this new operation, Operation Determined Struggle, will be recapturing Arab majority areas which have been subjugated by the Kurdish PKK. The Arab town of Tal Abyad, right across the border from Turkey, has been subject to ethnic cleansing policies and concerns were raised when Arab al-Raqqa was captured from ISIS by Kurdish militias.
Front 1The most important front. Emanating from Turkey's Akçakale border crossing, it will start with an immediate battle for the Arab-majority town of Tal Abyad. Tal Abyad and Akçakale are a divided town, meaning Turkish and allied forces will immediately begin fighting in the "urban" (m: it's a town not city) areas.
The operation will begin with Turkey's elite Maroon Berets infiltrating the surrounding countryside the night before. Their task will be to have spotted targets for artillery and airstrikes at the time of invasion. Armored forces will flank the town at the start of the operation, shelling targets with direct fire. The southern road out of the town will be left open for escape as the caught-off-guard militia forces will likely be rattled.
After infantry with heavy fire support have captured Tal Abyad, they will move to complete their initial thrust (m: marked by the large arrow). Front 1 will consolidate its position and await for Front 2 to finish its opening actions (which should be ongoing in parallel), widening their territory of control as geographically necessary.
Front 2Front 2 starts from the Ceylanpınar Border Crossing, adjacent to the Syrian town of Ras Al Ayn. Having a much larger Kurdish population presence than Tal Abyad, the town will first be encircled by an armored offensive (starting in coordination with Front 1's offensive) and attacked from all angles once cut off. Front 2 will continue on to capture its marked objectives, taking care to not approach the US base to its east (m: you can see the USA flag there) too closely.
Following Front 1 and 2 completing their initial offensives, the two fronts will meet. First they will capture the segments of M4 highway between them, cutting off the main transit route in so-called Rojava. Then the country side will be captured with pretty loose rules of engagement rules in the rural areas which are flat and loosely populated.
General Offensive from the BorderAfter the towns of Tal Abyad (Front 1) and Ras al Ayn (Front 2) are captured but the spearheads are still continuing south, a general offensive will begin from the width of the Turkish border in the area. Security will be tight and the Turkish side evacuated up to 5 km deep. This offensive will see heavier use of Free Syrian Army troops because the armored assaults in the countryside by the Turkish Army would likely have been more difficult for non-state militias to keep up with.
The Free Syrian Army will help secure the countryside, interact with the locals (esp Ar*bs), and form the basis of the security force once the first phase of Operation Determined Struggle is completed.

[Diplomacy] Operation Al Mutawasit
Operation Al Mutawasit will see participating naval and air forces attempt to halt and then roll back a contingent of surface ships from the fictional state of Niimur-kid operating in the Eastern Mediterranean. During the scenario, Niimur-kid’s forces will attempt to establish a secure maritime zone of control in which they can deploy oil rigs and fishing craft. They will be supported by sizeable air and submarine assets, which the joint forces will also need to challenge. A coalition victory will ensure the protection of a free and open maritime space, while a Niimur-kiditte victory will see the high seas come under the domination of an aggressive regional power.
The Operation is expected to develop interoperability between the navies of Egypt, Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Israel (all local powers) while increasing the capability of peripheral powers that are friendly to Cairo and have an interest in a free and open Eastern Mediterranean (see: the UAE, France and the US) to assist local powers in protecting the regional maritime order. Egypt had hoped to invite forces from Jordan, Libya and Saudi Arabia to participate in the Operation, however, the naval assets of the former are not suited to blue water operations, and those of the latter two are currently tied up in regional conflicts of greater importance. Egypt would, therefore, like to invite officers from these states to attend the exercises as observers aboard Egyptian vessels.
Egypt will deploy the following assets to Operation Al Mutawasit:
- 1x Romeo class diesel-electric attack submarine.
- 1x Type 209/1400 diesel-electric attack submarine.
- 1x FREMM Aquitaine class frigate.
- 2x Oliver Hazard Perry class frigates.
- 2x Gowind class corvettes.
- 1x Pohang class corvette.
- 3x Ambassador MK III missile craft.
- 3x Hainan class submarine chasers.
- Accompanying reconnaissance and ASW ACs (from Navy).
- 2x E-2 Hawkeye AEW AC (shore launched).
- 5x Dassault Rafale multirole fighter ACs (shore launched).
- 20x F-16 multirole fighter ACs (shore launched).
